OUR STORY
I have always been a dog lover. My childhood memories take me back to our beloved border collies. When John and I were married over 20 years ago, our first dog was a golden retriever named Rodeo. This boy forever stole our hearts, the way he looked after our children with boundless loyalty and gentleness. Sadly, he passed at age 6 from cancer. We did not know the difference between researching the best kennels vs. responding to a newspaper ad for puppies, but learned the hard way.
Over the years we have had a few other breeds adopted from rescue,, but some were too large, too high -strung for us, or not especially good with small children. Cavaliers, I found were known to be gentle with children good with other dogs, and in a way they reminded me of golden retrievers with their gentleness and sweet spirits.
Our first cavalier we purchased from Laura Nel of Sikeleli Cavaliers. She put up with my endless string of questions and concerns with the utmost patience. I wanted to be sure this breed was right for our family, and it WAS! When Jaymie came home with us, we were hooked! Soon just having a cavalier was not enough. I wanted to do more. I continued to read and research the breed, the health challenges, the fun of competing in events and the lifestyle adjustment we would need to make to eventually show and breed.
Over the last few years, our hearts have only grown fonder of this wonderful breed. We became members of the CKCSC and AKC, and commit to standards of excellence in all that we do. We keep only a few cavaliers in our home , so each one can be nurtured and loved as family members, while also developing their full potential. Our goal is to produce healthy, well socialized puppies that are only bred from sires and dams who are of sound health and temperament, We are selective with placement, considering the lifelong commitment, responsibility, care and love these dogs require.
